Why is it important to have a hearing test?

Audiologist with client for hearing assessment
Hearing well is important. It allows us to communicate, stay socially connected and navigate our way more easily through life. If you notice that your hearing is not as good as it once was, you might feel as though people are mumbling when talking to you; that it is more difficult to hear in a noisy environment; or just that generally communication is more difficult and tiring than it used to be. These are indicators that it is time to have a hearing check. Hearing loss that is not treated can cause a wide range of difficulties. Not only does it make communication more difficult, but it can also lead to miscommunication, strained relationships, missed career opportunities, social isolation, and mental health challenges. There is also evidence that indicates untreated hearing loss increases your chance of having falls and can also lead to cognitive decline. Therefore, treating hearing loss is important to helping you stay fit and healthy. Hearing is not just about hearing, it’s about and supports your overall physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

If your hearing assessment reveals a hearing loss, there are a range of options to treat your hearing loss depending on the degree and severity, it’s cause, and your lifestyle, budget and communication needs. Treatment might be as simple as removing wax from your ears, or might require medical management, or the recommendation for hearing aids including all the incredible features, benefits and latest technology that comes along with them.

The professional and caring team at Hearing Aid Specialists SA are here to answer your questions, offer you choice and support you during your personal goal to better hearing and living and hearing your best life.
